Wallowitch & Ross -- Press

It was billed as a celebration of their new CD, Wallowitch and Ross, but it was just as much a love fest for John Wallowitch and Bertram Ross. Danny's Skylight Room was packed with an audience seemingly torn between hearing more of John Wallowitch's melodies and satiric lyrics, and cheering the two intrepid entertainers at every opportunity long and enthusiastically enough to get the event into the Guinness Book of Records.

The two, who are longtime partners in their private life as well, will perform together tomorrow and Dec. 17 at Danny's Skylight Room on West 46th Street in Manhattan. "This Moment," Richard Morris's luminous and funny 1998 documentary about them, has been reissued as a DVD, available at KarmicRelease@aol.com. "Wallowitch & Ross" (Miranda Music), a new CD that Mr. Wallowitch describes as "an overview of American song that's quite insane," has just come out.

Jennifer Dunning, The New York Times

The fact that John Wallowitch and Bertram Ross are darlings of the New York cabaret world is completely understandable. These two septuagenarians are sophisticated, charming, and eminently lovable. Wallowitch composes hilariously comic and wistfully romantic songs which he then plays on the piano accompanying Ross, his elegant straight man ... Now director Richard Morris has preserved this remarkable partnership in a 77-minute documentary, Wallowitch & Ross: This Moment."
